Tim Brown

Tim graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics). Tim began his legal career at Russell McVeagh in Auckland in 2004, before moving to London in 2007, where he worked for a large commercial law firm and as an in-house legal advisor for British Telecommunications.

In 2011, Tim returned to New Zealand and settled in Christchurch.  He worked at large Christchurch law firms before commencing work in Rangiora in 2015, where he became a partner in 2017.

Tim is an expert in all business law matters, including establishing new businesses, buying and selling existing businesses, restructuring and succession planning, commercial contracts, capital and debt funding, corporate governance and compliance.

Tim also advises clients on buying and selling property, leasing property, establishing and managing family trusts and other private client matters.

Rachael Zaronis

Rachael is a North Canterbury local, born and bred in Woodend. She graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts in 2014. While studying, Rachael worked in a Christchurch law firm and then commenced work as a solicitor in Rangiora in 2015.

Rachael was part of the establishment of Conway Lane Law in 2017 and subsequently became a Director in January 2018, making her one of the youngest lawyers in New Zealand at the time to reach that position.

Rachael leads the property team at Conway Lane Law and has a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of property law (including buying and selling property, subdivisions, easements, and occupation right agreements). Rachael and the property team specialise in helping first-home buyers into the property market, including assisting with KiwiSaver withdrawals, and also advise clients on lending, guarantees and refinancing.

Rachael has significant experience advising on relationship property matters, including the division of assets on separation, contracting out agreements, and property sharing arrangements. She works closely with clients to provide clear, practical advice during what can often be a complex and sensitive time.

Rachael also advises on wills, trusts, estates, enduring powers of attorney, dispute resolution, and provides independent legal advice on a variety of matters.

Jennifer Jones

Jennifer joined Conway Lane Law as a Senior Associate in 2023 upon her return from the UK, where she worked for the UK’s leading conveyancing firm. She quickly proved herself to be an invaluable member of the team and, in recognition of her expertise and contribution, was promoted to Director in April 2026.

She has a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of property law including buying and selling property, subdivisions and easements. She helps buyers and sellers confidently navigate the property market, including advising first-home buyers and assisting clients with bank lending and refinancing.

Jennifer also has a special interest in Relationship Property including Separation and Contracting Out Agreements. Just like in her property work she strives to help people navigate what can often be difficult and stressful times.

Jennifer also advises on wills, trusts, estates, enduring powers of attorney and provides independent legal advice on a variety of matters.

Heidi Stone

Heidi works closely with the property team to assist clients in all aspects of property law including buying and selling property, easements, and assisting first home buyers to navigate the housing market.

Heidi graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Laws in 2022 and commenced work as a solicitor with us in May 2025.

Prior to joining Conway Lane Law, Heidi spent time travelling and working in London, returning to Christchurch in 2024 to undertake a Masters of International Law.

Heidi works closely with the property team to assist clients in all aspects of property law including buying and selling property, easements, and assisting first home buyers to navigate the housing market.

Heidi also assists with wills, enduring powers of attorney, separations and contracting out agreements.

Registered Legal Executive

Olivia O’Brien

Olivia is a Registered Legal Executive who joined Conway Lane Law in March 2021. Olivia gained her Legal Executive Diploma in 2018 and has been part of the legal profession in Christchurch for over ten years.

Olivia has experience in residential conveyancing including first home buyers who require assistance with Kiwisaver and First Home Grants. She also has experience with asset protection work including Family Trusts, Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney.

Rachel brings over 12 years of experience providing support in a wide range of legal areas including estates and asset planning, relationship property, commercial, and residential conveyancing. In recent years, Rachel has found a particular passion for wills and estates, and is committed to helping clients navigate what can often be complex and emotional matters.

Rachel started working in the legal field having just left high school. After a career break to raise her family, she joined Conway Lane Law in February 2024 bringing with her over 12 years of experience providing support in a wide range of legal areas including estates and asset planning, relationship property, commercial, and residential conveyancing. In recent years, Rachel has found a particular passion for wills and estates, and is committed to helping clients navigate what can often be complex and emotional matters. Alongside working and being a busy mum, Rachel is currently studying towards her Legal Executive Diploma.

Melissa Tovgaard

Legal Administrator Melissa (Mel) joined the team in March 2023. Mel is one of the friendly faces you will see when you come into Conway Lane Law.

Originally from the UK, she traveled extensively before settling in Rangiora. Mel has a wide variety of administrative experience and will assist clients with buying and selling properties.
